In my tests, I found it gives a bit of a buffer. The cp command (which is very fast in my tests) uses just 128KB block size (see strace cp. Just for my interest, why are you using "bs=10M" for the dd command? Now I just use "cp" - its simple to use and fast enough in practice (slightly faster than dd bs=1m) I gave up trying to calculate everything and produce an optimal C program! So, given that the disk read times are near zero for this case only, whats the best read/write block size to give dd for the optimal overlap between reads and writes? įor example, I usually download the image to a memory disk, then uncompress it and copy it to the raw device. Given all the above variables, any simple benchmark results will be meaningless. Its incredibly complicated given: different read/download speeds, decompression speeds, indeterminate overlap between reads and writes, disk write speeds, variable asynchronous disk block prefetch ranges, "sync" time, verification time, etc etc To get a smaller file and accelerate the transfer of it.Believe it or not, with enough optimization, it can be faster to download an img, extract it, and flash it to a SD card, than to flash a local, pre-extracted. If what we want is to compress a file to share through the internet or a local network and we have enough RAM, the ideal is to use When we are going to work on systems with limited memory, it is preferable to use Gzip, since it needs less resources. To answer the question of whether Gzip is better than xz or why use one or the other, we have to point to its use, since weĬannot say that one is better than the other, but that they are used in different scenarios However, if we compare it with bzip2 it is more efficient both in compression ratio and in compression time, hence many users have already adopted the. xz format has the disadvantage that it requires more compression and decompression time, in addition to a larger amount of memory, but it offers us greater compression ratios. Get smaller file sizes, which are ideal for saving bandwidth in internet transfers. In this section I will extend a bit talking about thisįormat that seems to be gaining special importance when sharing files on the internet.Īnd offers greater efficiency than Gzip and even bzip2. When we decompress it is not necessary to include this parameter , since if you put it in lowercase it will give you an error. It tells us that the spiritual is higher than the material, that spirit counts for more than matter.įor I remember it is Easter morn, and life and love and peace are all new born.įor God so loved the world, that He gave His only son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life. The Resurrection asserts a truth which by no means is always written legibly for all men on the face of nature. For He departed, and behold, He is here.Īngels, roll the rock away Death, yield up thy mighty prey: See, He rises from the tomb, Glowing with immortal bloom. Tomb, thou shalt not hold Him longer Death is strong, but life is stronger stronger than the dark the light stronger than the wrong, the right.Įaster spells out beauty, the rare beauty of new life.Īnd He departed from our sight that we might return to our heart, and there find Him. But the fact of Easter gives us the spiritual power to do the work, accept the discipline, make the sacrifice.Įaster says you can put truth in a grave, but it won’t stay there. Still before us lie work, discipline, sacrifice. The joyful news that He is risen does not change the contemporary world. We are Easter people and hallelujah is our song. I was no longer the center of my life and therefore I could see God in everything.ĭo not abandon yourselves to despair. God had brought me to my knees and made me acknowledge my own nothingness, out of that knowledge I had been reborn. Does Isaiah 53:5c, And by His stripes we are healed, refer to physical healing 2. And we do not really love Christ unless we are prepared to face His task and take up His cross. There are at least five ways of stating your question. Love always involves responsibility, and love always involves sacrifice. The first thing that stuck in the minds of the disciples was not the empty tomb, but rather the empty grave clothes- undisturbed in form and position. 1 Peter 2:24 He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness. I also believe in the Holy Ghost, the comforter. I also believe in Jesus Christ, the rebirth of the world. I believe in one God, the first and great cause of goodness. Let him say not merely, “Christ is risen,” but “I shall rise.” Let him catch the revelation of Jesus in His resurrection. Let every man and woman count himself immortal. Here is the amazing thing about Easter the Resurrection Sunday for Christians is this, that Christ in the dying moments on the cross gives us the greatest illustration of forgiveness possible. “He was wounded for our transgressions He was crushed for our iniquities on Him was chastisement that brought us peace, and by His stripes we are healed.” When Christ hung, and bled, and died, it was God saying to the world, “I Love You”Įarth’s saddest day and gladdest day were only three days apart! He came to forgive your past, give you a purpose for living, and a home in heaven. The Bible tells us that Jesus Christ came to do three things. John MacArthur sheds clear light on the matter in his commentary on 1 Peter 2:24 (which, noted earlier, quotes from Isaiah 53:5 ): Christ died for believers to separate. When a baby who was part of a multiple pregnancy passes away, hospital staff place a sticker of a purple butterfly on the isolette or bassinette. The stickers also serve as a reminder to hospital staff of the family’s loss. In May 2017, Mass General for Children (MGfC) introduced the Purple Butterfly Project to honor the lives of babies who were part of a multiple pregnancy and passed away. For staff, it is a small reminder of a life they cared for just as much as the surviving twin and her family.

A large tornado tore through southeastern Missouri before dawn on Wednesday, killing at least five people and causing widespread destruction as a broad swath of the Midwest. The result was deaths in a wide variety of buildings. The deaths can be attributed to poor house construction, the size and intensity of the path, confusion as sirens went on, went off, then back on again, the lack of basements and below ground shelters, and general belief that Joplin was somehow made immune from tornadoes by local topography. The result was the loss of 158 lives (not including plus three "indirect" deaths), the most since tornado forecasting began in 1953. The new documentary Billie Eilish: The World's a Little Blurry, which follows the teenage singer as she records her debut album and blows up to global superstardom, arrives at a moment when the world seems to be having a moment of collective - if sometimes disingenuous - regret over its treatment of Britney Spears, whose hounding at the hands of the press is a reminder of an era when teen pop stars were at the mercy of the media.Īssembled from hours of home video, behind-the-scenes footage and other candid moments, The World's a Little Blurry, like Taylor Swift's recent, belatedly confessional Miss Americana, portrays a pop star in control of her iconography: the confessions are on her own terms, the mistakes are funny and human, and the anxieties and self-doubts are part of the package - the very reasons she connects to so many. Here, let's look back on Billie Eilish's biggest style moments of 2021.It's one of the curious paradoxes of contemporary pop stardom: social media offers audiences access to the kind of intimate details of performers' lives that would be unthinkable in another era, yet it theoretically affords the stars near-complete control of their public image - allowing them to circumvent traditional media for a direct dialogue with their fans. She continued, “It was so weird because I was like, ‘It’s not a new style it's one thing I wore and then I’m gonna wear this another day and then I’m gonna do this.’ Literally, the thing that I’ve been preaching about since I first started is to wear what you want.”Īnd while it's true Eilish stepped out of her comfort zone in 2021-that iconic Met-gala moment will go down in history-it's not like she's left her oversized streetwear in 2020. “It was supposed to be a specific aesthetic for a photo shoot, and then it was like, ‘Billie Eilish's new style’ and people kept being like, ‘Wow, her new style, it’s so much better than the old style.’ Or like, ‘Wow, I wish that we could have her old style back, I’m so sad that she’s just changed into this,’” she recently told Vanity Fair, per BuzzFeed. “Showing your body and showing your skin-or not-should not take any respect away from you.”Īnd many months later, Eilish doesn't know why it's still such a big deal. “Suddenly you’re a hypocrite if you want to show your skin, and you’re easy and you’re a slut and you’re a whore,” she told British Vogue. In May the “Ocean Eyes” singer welcomed her Happier Than Ever era with a corset-clad photo shoot that practically broke the internet.Īt the time, Eilish knew the shift from baggy head-to-toe looks to something vampier would draw attention and criticism. The move was about growth and exploration just as much as it was about anonymity (the artist admitted she could barely leave the house without being recognized by her green roots), but Eilish didn't stop there. The Grammy-winning artist first shook up the music world when she debuted platinum blonde hair in March 2021-a drastic change from the neon green and jet-black locks she had going for two years. In the world of music, nobody had a more dramatic image transformation this year than Billie Eilish. Use the AUTH command with only one argument to authenticate by password: AUTH admin-password Use the -a flag to authenticate by password on the command line: redis-cli -a admin-password OKīoth options above also support password-only authentication. If the password provided via AUTH command matches the password in the /etc/redis/nf configuration file, the server replies with the OK status code and starts accepting commands. The command is used as follows: AUTH example-user password Using the CLI interface: The CLI has an AUTH command which authenticates a connection given a username and password. Use the -user flag to provide a username and the -pass flag to provide a password as shown below: redis-cli -user example-user -pass password Using command-line options: In this case, you provide the username and password of your Redis user as part of the command to start the Redis CLI. Redis gives you the following two ways of authenticating your connection: From there, you need to authenticate your connection to be able to view and modify the Redis database on the server. The Redis CLI automatically connects to a local Redis server when you run the redis-cli command. On AlmaLinux, CentOS, and Fedora, the default location is usually /etc/nf. Generally, on Debian and Ubuntu, the location defaults to the above. Replace /etc/redis/nf throughout this guide with the actual location of your Redis server’s configuration file. The number of lesions ablated increases risk of intrahepatic recurrence but does not impact overall survival.īoyle P, Ferlay J: Cancer incidence and mortality in Europe, 2004. ConclusionĬombined resection and ablation is associated with long-term-survival in a subset of patients however, recurrence is common. Survival was not influenced by the number of lesions resected or ablated (both p > 0.05). While total number of lesions treated (hazard ratio (HR) = 1.47, p = 0.23) and number of lesions resected (HR = 1.18, p = 0.43) did not impact risk of intrahepatic recurrence, the number of lesions ablated did (HR = 1.36, p = 0.05). At last follow-up, 84 patients (67%) recurred with a median disease-free interval of 15 months. The median number of lesions resected was 4 the median number of lesions ablated was 1. Patients presented with a median of six lesions. Of these, 125 patients underwent resection combined with ablation as the primary mode of treatment. Methodsīetween 19, 1,425 patients who underwent surgery for CRLM were queried from an international multi-institutional database. We sought to determine the efficacy of combined resection and ablation for CRLM. By combining resection and ablation, the number of patients eligible for surgery can be expanded. Only 10–25% of patients presenting with colorectal liver metastases (CRLM) are amenable to hepatic resection. |
